ITINERARY: PERTI ALTO – QUARRY – “FORMAGGETTE” – VILLAGGIO DELLE ANIME – BRIC DELLA CROCE – CIANASSI – PERTI ALTO
By car (from Finale Ligure’s train station FF SS): you take the first way out to the right in the roundabout, and you drive on the national road Aurelia (Strada Statale SS1), direction Ventimiglia, for about 350 m. Then, you turn right to the SP490 until the roundabout in Finalborgo. You take the first way out and then you turn left joining the SP17. After 1,7 km of driving, you will have to turn right following the signal “Perti Alto” into a narrow and uphill road. This road leads to the square of Perti Alto, where you can park your car.

The trail is well signaled and easily walkable.
The trail that leads to the quarry starts from the square of Perti Alto, on the left side facing the church (near the war memorial). You have to travel along this trail ignoring the tiny deviation in order to get to the quarry. Overstep the quarry and keep climbing the “Rocca di Perti”. In this stretch there are many climbing areas and panoramic spots (where you can admire the whole valley until the sea). Once you pass over the climbing area called “Pancia dell’Elefante” (it’s visible on your left hand side, below the trail, in a very panoramic spot), the trail joins a wooded stretch to reach a first crossroad (after 150m) where you will have to go left (following the same trail mark). Then you will run into a second crossroad: the trail on the left leads to the famous rock erosion formation “formaggette” and “the everlasting water bowl”; instead, the trail on the right leads to the cave “Grotta delle Anime” (many human remains were found inside this cave); if you keep going straight on, the trail leads to the peak “Bric della Croce”. (This last stretch is also signaled with three red balls).
A new downhill trail starts a few meters above. Join it to reach the open space “Cianassi” (30 minutes).
During the trip it is also possible to glimpse at the remains of the ancient village called “Villaggio delle Anime” (8000 years old!!!). It is also possible to visit the little cave “Grottino del bric della croce” and it’s crag. There is going to be only one fork, where you will have to go right.(The left trail leads to some climbing areas “Vie Storiche”).
When you arrive to the “Cianassi”, keep following the paved road (right hand direction, downhill) to reach again the square of Perti Alto, the starting point.
